The month of February brings two things to mind; Valentine’s Day and Black History Month. In recognition of both, I wanted to do what I do best; spread love and awareness. Here’s a double whammy.
Loving vs. The State of Virginia 1967 allowed interracial marriages! Just in case you weren’t taught this in school kiddos. The case was brought by Mildred Loving, a black woman, and Richard Loving, a white man, who had been sentenced to a year in prison in Virginia for marrying each other.
Laws prohibited interracial marriages between “white” and “colored” but this case was brought to the Supreme Court and a unanimous decision reversed that ridiculous law. THANK GOD!
The fact that their last name was “Loving” is no coincidence. Divinely orchestrated.
Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Black History Month!
